My purpose is to EMPOWER - ENTERTAIN - EVOKE CHANGE through influencing and powerful youth development programming that promotes youth to become the best version of themselves by setting goals and executing on them quickly, acquiring leadership skills to support their personal and professional development, and encouraging entrepreneurship for a better future.

  • Joye provided exciting and engaging weekly lessons that focused on self-awareness, self esteem and the development of positive relationships and interactions through positive choice making to our 4th-6th grade students who were deemed to need positive guidance and support in attendance, behavior and academics. Her goal was to provide our students with a positive, safe and respected environment to explore their personal needs (recognize their motivational behaviors) and promote a growth mindset of which she was successful. Joye’s ability to connect with our students was commendable as majority of them had difficulty trusting others especially adults due to their previous experiences. Due to our school closure for COVID-19 in March 2020, Joye’s commitment to our students allowed her to finish the year with us by providing lessons virtually.   • Discover the power of transformation in the hands of a dedicated leader. Joye Hurling, a dynamic force in youth development, has been instrumental in shaping young minds and hearts. As a selected coach for "You Ain't The Boss Of Me" (YATBOM), Joye has used her skills to guide middle and high school students in self-discovery and confidence-building. Her approach is not just engaging, it's empowering. Joye's commitment to youth empowerment is evident in her leadership of SEEDIY (Sowing Empowering Emotions Deliberately in Youth). Here, she offers a curriculum that focuses on social-emotional development, self-confidence, and character-building. Her creative techniques, including creative arts and experiential interventions, resonate deeply with students, fostering self-awareness and cultivating positive mindsets.Those skill sets allowed her to consult with us for our Academy and use the tools to help our parents thrive. Joye's energy is infectious. Her sessions were eagerly anticipated by students, who were inspired by her creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication. She used spoken word, poetry, and music to help students transform challenges into productive actions. Her dedication to helping young people become the best version of themselves has left a lasting impact.

  • Joye engaged students in youth building skills utilizing creative approaches to improve life-functioning to foster viable and healthy relationships. This is where S.E.E.D.I.Y proved to be very beneficial. The tools and skills displayed through poetry and creative writing, as well as problem solving and conflict resolution were instrumental in supporting youth in acquiring new skills which equipped them to be successful inside and outside of the classroom. Students were able to make significant measurable progress implementing these skills throughout the academic school year. Joye is a proponent and strong believer in family and community. Her character exemplifies strong communication and active listening skills, the ability to build trust and establish rapport, a congruent interest in helping young people, and experience working with youth who have behavior and/or mental health challenges. It is undoubtfully clear to me that Joye has a commitment to the "at-risk" youth and has made it a priority to advocate for children with behavioral and/or mental health challenges.
